Courses of Study leading to an academic degree that is a full teaching qualification

KPH/ Catholic University College for Education Graz, offers the following academic Courses of Study (duration: 6 semesters) leading to a B. Ed. (Bachelor of Education) degree, each of which is a full teaching qualification:

• B. Ed. degree courses leading to full teaching qualification for primary schools

• B. Ed. degree courses leading to full teaching qualification for special schools

• B. Ed. degree courses leading to teaching qualification for RC Religious Studies at Primary, Secondary Modern and Technical Schools

On successful completion of these courses, the degree awarded is the academic degree of Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.) which at the same time constitutes a full teaching qualification.

In keeping with the relevant regulations and agreements of the authorities of the European Union (the Bologna Declaration), each full degree course consists of 180 European Credit points: in each semester, it is assumed that students will gain 30 EC points. All full degree courses have the following Areas of Study, with the relevant number of EC points mentioned in brackets:

• General Arts Subjects (39 EC points)

• Special Subjects and Subject-Specific Didactics (84 EC points)

• Practical Studies regarding schools and schoolteaching (36 EC points)

Modules and module plans of B. Ed. courses of study refer to basic competences that each student needs to acquire in the process of taking his/her degree course. These areas of competence are an expression of the general aims and of the profile / mission of KPH (Kirchliche Pädagogische Hochschule Graz, the Catholic University College for Education Graz).
